The 21st Hoi An - Japan Cultural Exchange is directed by the People’s Committee of Da Nang City and organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Consulate-General of Japan in Da Nang and many related units.
The event will take place from December 26 to 28, 2025 at the Hoi An Ancient Town. Center for the Conservation of Hoi An World Cultural Heritage is the implementation agency of the event.
The event aims to spread the cultural beauty of Hoi An – a UNESCO World Heritage site – to domestic and international visitors, while strengthening the long-lasting friendship between Vietnam and Japan. It also serves as an opportunity to enhance collaboration in investment, trade, tourism, and culture between Da Nang–Hoi An and Japanese localities, contributing to tourism development and cultural exchange in the region.

This year’s program is expected to deliver the harmonious atmosphere between tradition and contemporary creation through many significant activities for local people and tourists such as Re-enactment of the “Princess Ngoc Hoa and Merchant Araki Sotaro Parade” – the historical love story symbolizing the early Vietnam–Japan connection in the 17th century which will be performed by the Sakai City traditional float procession; Calligraphy and Sakai tea ceremony presentation; Japanese (Hina-ningyo) doll exhibition; Cultural and traditional art performances; Street art exchange; Cosplay contest; Booths for tourism promotion and information, culinary exchange, sales of Japanese souvenirs, accessories, manga; etc.
This 21st event not only serves as a bridge between the past and the present but also as a vivid testament to the enduring vitality of heritage in the new era. Through this event, image of Da Nang city and Hoi An Ancient Town will be spread as a global, creative, and open destination which welcomes all friends around the world.
