Ceremony of Tea offering and welcoming the first group of tourists to Hoi An Ancient town in year 2024.

On the morning of January 1, 2024, Hoi An government held a ceremony of tea offering ceremony at Hoi An communal house (No.27 Le Loi street) and of welcoming the first group of international tourists visiting Hoi An Ancient town at the Gate of Ba Mu Pagoda (No.675 Hai Ba Trung street).

     From early morning, members of Thiên Cẩu (Heaven Dog) dancing team and people in charge of offering tea – especially there is Mr. Nguyen Cao Son, a famous artisan of Vietnamese Tea Art and Cuisine gathered at Ba Le ancient well to process water from the well to Hoi An communal house for the ceremony. Traditional rituals such as asking for and receiving water from Ba Le well, asking for fire at communal house to make tea, lighting incense sticks, burning incense, tea making rituals, offering tea, enjoying tea... were taken place in a solemn cozy atmosphere, attracting many local people and tourists.

     Also on this morning, the ceremony of welcoming the first group of international tourists to Hoi An Ancient town took place at the Gate of Ba Mu Pagoda. The first group of tourists is from Italy, including 19 guests of E ASIA Travel. A female tourist in the group shared "This is the first time I have visited the beautiful ancient town of Hoi An. I’m really surprised with this warm welcome, even though it rains. This must be an unforgettable memory for me."

     By organizing meaningful activities on the first day of the new year 2024, the government and people of Hoi An city want to express their respect to ancestors, strengthen community cohesion and express the warm greetings and hospitality to visitors. Hopefully, in 2024, with joining UNESCO's Creative Cities Network, Hoi An city will organize many appealing cultural and experiential activities, attracting more tourists from all around the world visiting the city.
