Attending The national scientific symposium on Safeguarding and Promoting Documentary Heritage

On November 25, Department of Cultural Heritage (MOCST) organized The national scientific symposium on Safeguarding and Promoting Documentary Heritage in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. Many experts and representatives of museums, centers, boards for cultural heritage management had attended the symposium.

      At the symposium, Dr. Vũ Thị Minh Hương, Vice Chairperson of UNESCO The Memory of the World Committee for Asia and the Pacific had informed the changes of criteria and submission of nomiting world documentary heritage according to 2021 guildlines of UNESCO; as well as introduced new Vietnamese documentary heritage that had just been enlisted. In addition, participants had exchanged enthusiastically about the management of documentary heritage in Vietnamese localities.

      Up to now, Vietnam has 9 documentary heritages honoured by UNESCO, including 3 world documentary heritages and 6 Asia – Pacific documentary heritages. In purpose of legislating the policies on safeguarding and promoting this specific heritage, documentary heritage has been included in Draft Law on Cultural Heritage (amended), expected to be submitted to the Vietnamese National Assembly for promulgation in next coming time.

      Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation sent a professional staff to attend this symposium.
