Tra Que vegetable farming - Hoi An is inscribed on the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage

Tra Que vegetable farming is one of the famous traditional crafts in Hoi An, formed and developed more than 300 years ago.

      Currently, Tra Que vegetable farming is being preserved and promoted effectively, Tra Que vegetable village is one of the places providing an abundant source of clean vegetables for the market in Hoi An and the surrounding areas. Tra Que vegetable village is considered as one of the attractive attractions for tourists when coming to Hoi An.

      In 2020, with the consensus of the Hoi An People’s Committee, Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation created a dossier on Tra Que vegetable farming and coordinated with competent agencies to submit it to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for inscription on the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through the appraisal process, on April 4th, 2022, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 784/QD-BVHTTDL on the publication of the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage, in which, Tra Que vegetable farming, Cam Ha commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province is inscribed on the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in the category of folk knowledge and traditional crafts.
   
      This recognition is both the honor and recognition of the community’s contributions to the process of preserving and developing Tra Que vegetable farming as well as the basis for better preserving and promoting the Tra Que vegetable farming in particular and traditional craft in Hoi An in general.
     
      This is the fourth National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hoi An to be honored, preceded by Thanh Ha pottery (Thanh Ha ward), Thanh Chau swiftlet nest farming (Cam Thanh commune), Kim Bong carpentry (Cam Kim commune) recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
