Quang Nam Museum elaborated the plan for exploration of archaeological sites in Hoi An city

In 2024, Quang Nam Museum has elaborated the plan for exploration of archaeological sites across the province. From May 02 to May 08, 2024, the agency has been implementing the plan in Hoi An city coordinated by Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation.

      This activity is targeted at assessing archeological sites/relics excavated before and looking for the new sites basing on information from local people, artifacts found on the ground surface and other studies. In addition, the activity aims to determine position, scope, chronology to serve research work and make specific proposals on protection and promotion of sites/relics. In the coming time, archaeological excavation and protection zone marking-off will be the foundation for elaborating the archaeological planning and maps of Quang Nam province to 2030.

      In the city of Hoi An, there are 2 national archaeological relics, 5 provincial-level archaeological relics, 17 relics on the protection list of the city and many other archaeological sites. The archaeological sites have the high historical, cultural or scientific value which can shed light on many issues of Hoi An history in general.
