On June 24, 2022, Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation cooperated with the People's Committee of Minh An ward, Cam Pho ward and some of the city specialized divisions to digitize the Japanese Covered Bridge by 3D simulation technology.

Japanese Covered Bridge is considered as the most valuable architectural building and an iconic monument of Hoi An ancient town, but now it has been seriously deteriorated. The conservation project of the bridge will be implemented in the near future to maintain its long-term stability as well as to preserve the core values of the heritage site...
3D digitization of monument is a part of the Conservation Project of the Japanese Covered Bridge which was approved by Hoi An People's Committee at the Decision No. 559/QD-UBND dated May 18, 2022 and Decision No. 692/QD-UBND dated May 27, 2022 on selecting contractor. Funding for the 3D digitization is from the budget of Quang Nam province and Hoi An city with rate 50:50. The 3D digitization of the Japanese Covered Bridge creates a scientific database in order to support upcoming dismantling and restoration of the Japanese Covered Bridge.
