Construction permission advisory and restoration monitor of ancient houses in the Hoi An Ancient Town in the first six months of 2022

To meet the need to repair and restore houses and other buildings in the ancient town, in first six months of 2022, Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation received and resolved 99 applications for restoring houses/historic buildings, including 44 applications in Zone I, 35 in Zone II-A and 20 in Zone II-B.

      In those, the Center counseled Hoi An People's Committee allowing for 84 applications, instructed and returned 11 dossiers, 04 dossiers in processing. There were no cases of being late according to the appointment slip.

      Besides issuing permits for construction/repair in the ancient town, the Center also usually coordinates with the related authorities to instruct and monitor residents to abide by the permits, to check, handle and solve infringement in construction activities as soon as possible to make sure that these activities don't affect the architecture, natural scenery and value of the historic buildings. In six months, the Center had coordinated with the People's Committee in the wards and the related authorities to handle 08 infringement cases on construction (Minh An: 05, Cẩm Phô: 01, Sơn Phong: 02).

      In addition, the Center has also photographed the facade of houses in Zone I, conducted surveys on usage status of courtyard and backyard space, the implementation of flood and storm precautions in ancient town to ensure the safety of historic buildings and the lives of local people.
