Conference on disseminating and issuing “the Regulation of Protection of the World Cultural Heritage site – Hoi An Ancient Town”

Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation, People’s Committee of Hoi An City held a Conference on disseminating and issuing “the Regulation of Protection of the World Cultural Heritage site – Hoi An Ancient Town”.

Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh - Vice Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee and Mr. Pham Phu Ngoc - Director of Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation co-chaired the conference. Attending the conference were leaders of Party Committee Boards of the Municipal Party Committee, leaders of agencies, locality and collaborators for heritage conservation. At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Lanh commented: “This is the first time, Quang Nam province has issued the Regulation of Protection of the World Cultural Heritage Site - Hoi An Ancient Town. This Regulation is built on the basis of decrees, circulars and inheritances of six regulations previously issued by Hoi An city. It has many broad, strict and clear regulations creating a specific legal basis in the protection and promotion of the World Cultural Heritage - Hoi An Ancient Town in particular and Hoi An Cultural Heritage in general. Therefore, leaders and agencies must understand the regulations and be responsible for widely propagating and disseminating to the community, especially to the part of residents who are living and using houses/relics in Hoi An Ancient Town”.

The conference also got many comments from the participants. The opinions exchanged at this conference were acquired by Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation and developed a detailed plan to effectively propagate and disseminate the content of the regulation, thereby contributing to enhancing the awareness and responsibility of the people and organizations join in sustainable conservation of the value of the World Cultural Heritage - Hoi An Ancient Town.
